Indonesia’s consumer price inflation rose in September after easing in the previous month, data from the statistics bureau showed on Thursday.
Consumer prices rose 1.42 percent year-on-year in September, following a 1.32 percent increase in August. This was in line with economists’ expectations.
Prices for personal care and other services increased the most by 6.97 percent yearly in September. Prices for [health][1], and food, beverage and restaurant rose by 3.24 percent and 2.37 percent, respectively.
Prices also increased for food, beverage and tobacco, clothing and footwear, housing, water, electricity and household fuels, equipment, appliances and households maintenance, recreation, sports and culture, and education.
Core inflation was 1.86 percent in September, which was slightly below the 2 percent economists had forecast.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.05 percent in September, same as seen in the prior month. Economists were looking for a 0.01 percent fall.
Separately, the statistical office reported that tourist arrivals plummeted 89.22 percent year-on-year in August. However, they rose 4.45 percent from the previous month.
