Italy Jobless Rate Rises In July

Italy’s jobless rate increased for the third month in a row in July, data from the statistical office ISTAT showed on Tuesday.

The jobless rate rose to 9.7 percent in July from 9.3 percent in June. Economists had expected the rate to rise to 9.1 percent.

The employment rate rose marginally to 57.8 percent in July from 57.6 percent in the previous month.

The number of employed increased by 85,000 persons from the previous month.

The unemployment rate among the youth aged between 15 and 24, rose to 31.1 percent in July from 29.6 percent in the prior month.
