Spain’s consumer prices declined for the fifth month in a row in August, preliminary data from the statistical office INE showed on Monday.
The consumer prices fell 0.5 percent yearly in August, following a 0.6 percent in July. Economists had expected the inflation to remain unchanged.
On a month-on-month basis, consumer prices remained unchanged in August. Economists had forecast a 0.9 percent fall.
The harmonized index of consumer prices declined 0.6 percent annually in August. This was in line with economists forecast.
On a monthly basis, the HICP remained unchanged in August. Economists had forecast a 1.6 percent fall.
