Latvia’s unemployment rate increased in the second quarter, figures from the Central Statistical Bureau showed on Monday.
The jobless rate rose to 8.6 percent in the second quarter from 7.4 percent in the first quarter.
In the corresponding period of 2019, the unemployment rate was 6.4 percent.
The number of unemployed people increased by 22,000 to 83,500 in the June quarter from a year ago. The number of unemployed persons rose by 11,300 from the previous quarter.
The youth unemployment rate, which is applied to 15 to 24 years, rose to 18.2 percent in the second quarter.
