Bulgaria Inflation Slows In July

Bulgaria’s consumer price inflation eased in July after accelerating in the previous month, figures from the National Statistical Institute showed on Monday.

The consumer price index rose 1.2 year-on-year in July, after a 1.6 percent increase in June.

Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages grew 5.5 percent annually in July and those of restaurants and hotels gained 4.0 percent.

Meanwhile, prices for transportation, and clothing and footwear declined 11.5 percent and 1.2 percent, respectively.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.5 percent in July, reversing a 0.4 percent fall in the previous month.

The EU measure of harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP, rose 4.0 percent yearly in July and increased 0.8 percent from the previous month.
